Security tightened for Ramdeora Mela after alert on terrorist

Following alert by Rajasthan's Anti Terrorist Squad on possible infiltration by15 terrorists and attacks by them, foolproof security arrangements have been for the ongoing Baba Ramdeora Mela in Jaisalmer district, a senior police official said today.

Additional armed personnel were deployed in Ramdeora town where the mela began last week, attracting lakhs of devotees every day, Jaisalmer SP Vikas Sharma said here.

Security personnel have been deployed at hotels, railway station and bus stands to keep a strict vigil, he said.

Central and state intelligence agencies are also following the alert guidelines, he said.

An alert was sounded by Rajasthan's Anti Terrorist Squad on August 29 on possible infiltration by15 terrorists and attacks by them.

Referring to intelligence inputs from central intelligence agencies, the ATS informed Jaipur and Jodhpur Police Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners and all other district SPs including that of GRP about the possibility of 15 terrorists infiltrating into the country.

It said the terrorists were expert in making explosive jackets, vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices and can carry out blasts and target important installations at different places in country.
