A day after a Class XII student of Rotary Public School committed suicide allegedly by hanging herself after she was chided for texting a friend during class, the Gurgaon police on Friday dispatched a team to Punjab to apprehend a friend of the girl.

According to police, the friend had also come to visit the girl last year at the school. A case was registered against him on Thursday night after the girls parents alleged that he had been harassing her.

The Rotary Public School had declared a holiday on Friday owing to the girls death.

We could never have imagined that she would take such a step after she left the vice-principals office on Thursday. We had to inform the parents about the mobile phone and the messages since that is our duty. She was hardly scolded, school principal Gulshan Dewan said.
