The film, by far the best of 2014, has broken several records on its way to become the third biggest all-time grosser in Bollywood exceeding collections of several biggies like 'Chennai Express', '3 Idiots' and 'Ek Tha Tiger'.
In fact, 'Kick' made such big waves with its big box office collections that it was in a position to threaten the humongous record set by Aamir Khan's 'Dhoom 3'. But sadly for Salman bhai's fans, it was not to be. The Salman juggernaut got hit by Ajay Devgn's firepower.
In the last few days, Devgn's 'Singham Returns' severely effected the business of 'Kick' with the later's box office collections dropping to a mere Rs 61 lakh last Sunday.
As such, there is little chance that the Salman Khan-Jacqueline Fernandez starrer will be able break the box office collections records held by 'Dhoom 3' or even surpass the business of 'Krrish 3' (Rs 244.92 crore).
'Kick' is even short of the Rs 300-crore mark in overall collections with the latest available figure pegging the gross revenue at Rs 294.14 crore.
'Kick' opened to full houses, amassing Rs 26.40 crore on Day 1 which was later superceded by 'Singham Returns'. But the film maintained its position as the biggest opening weekend grosser of 2014 (Rs 83.83 crore). The film also joined the Rs 100 crore club within five days.
If at all there is any film that has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced, then, it was none other than 'Kick'. Every Bollywood film fans eagerly awaited for its release. After all, it's not every day you get to see a Salman Khan film!
'Kick' released in more than 5,000 theatres across the country and 42 other countries including non-traditional markets like France, Germany, Morocco and Maldives. 'Kick' also marks the directorial debut of Sajid Nadiadwala, known for producing the biggest potboilers like 'Housefull' and 'Heropanti' as well as '2 States' and 'Highway'.
