Rockland to invest Rs 1200 Cr to create a chain of hospitals in Delhi/NCR

The Rockland Group is investing Rupees 1200 Crore to create a chain of Healthcare facilities in the National Capital Region. The plan includes building of 4 new multi specialty hospitals, satellite clinics and an interactive media platform. The Group launched the OPD facilities of the Rockland Manesar multi specialties hospital on Monday.

Inaugurating the OPD services, The Managing Director of The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) Director Mr. Rajeev Arora said that the Rockland Hospital will fulfill the long felt need of the area. He said that about 1,50,000 people working in the area will directly benefit from the Rockland Hospital facilities. Mr. Arora added that soon the work force in the Manesar is expected to be about 2, 50,000. He also lauded the Rockland Groups plans to reach out to people living in hinterland areas.

The Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India Dr R K Srivastava, who was also present on the occasion, requested the Private sector players in healthcare to increase their reach in the rural areas. Dr Srivastava felt that there was a need to create quality Healthcare facilities that are affordable.

The principal Investment Officer of the International Financial Corporation (IFC) Mr. Shalabh Tondon said that India needs such private sector hospitals that could keep the healthcare delivery costs to the minimum. He said that the Rockland has been able to attract and retain the best team of doctors. The IFC, a World Bank Group member, has partnered with Rockland in its first phase of expansion. It has invested Rupees 55 Crores in Rockland hospitals. Mr. Tondon added that IFC investment endorsed Rockland Managements strategy of building a credible brand through ethical medical practices and use of affordable technology.

Dr P K Dave, chairman advisory board, Rockland Hospital said that the key issue in the medical practice today was of trust and credibility. He said that doctors at the Rockland Hospital have tried to gain the trust of patients through ethical practice.

Rockland Hospital, Manesar, the second in the chain of Hospitals is being built on a five acres piece of land. The Hospital will also have special geriatric facilities for assisted living. It will have integrated international designs to mesh 75 specially-designed geriatric care units with a 250-bed super-specialty hospital existing in the same periphery. The Manesar hospital site is on the NH-8 in IMT Manesar and is walking distance from the proposed Metro and 30 minutes from the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Rockland Group chairman, Mr. Rajesh Srivastava announced that the work on Rockland Hospital, Dwarka will begin later this month. Group is also doubling the capacity at its existing Hospital at Qutab Institutional Area, Delhi. He said that the available IT and telecommunication network will be optimally utilized in healthcare delivery systems. The Hospital in Manesar will be connected to the local network of doctors in and around Manesar as well as in its other hospitals.
