Quoting a study by Bloomberg, Dixon said Indian companies have invested close to $116 billion in overseas acquisitions. Besides, global companies are evincing more interest India. In a distributed enterprise, which requires traveling thousands of kilometres for routine business needs, there is a great need to invest in faster and smarter
Network latency can cost an organisation a lot. This is where Riverbed products address their needs most effectively. With solutions enabling location independent computing, organisations are supported to run businesses efficiently with reduced IT infrastructure costs. Users get an enhanced performance, no matter where an employee or the data is located, Dixon said.
He added that India is one of the strongest growth markets for Riverbed. We also enjoy a higher potential percentage of growth rate in India, in comparison to most other markets across APAC and Japan. Dixon, however, conceded that Indian enterprises have always been a little cautious about making large investments. But, they are increasingly opening up to cutting-edge technologies in the network performance management space. Moving further, we expect the Indian enterprises to explore these technologies more proactively to make themselves location independent, Dixon said.
Speaking about competition, Dixon said, As an enabler of location independent computing, we do not have any direct competitors that can offer the breadth and depth of our unique platform invented and offered by us. However, across individual components, we do compete with Cisco, F5 and the likes.
His optimism stems from the fact that the solution is relevant across enterprises in every sector. Riverbed has customers across banking and financial services, IT, healthcare, retail, utilities, mining, government and military. In India, we have worked with organisations like Cognizant, SAB Miller, Essar Group, Pernod Ricard and Cox & Kings, Dixon said.
Riverbed started out with a WAN optimisation solution 11 years ago, in 2004, with a key focus on helping enterprises utilise their infrastructure better, improve performance and save costs. Having stood at about $2 million in 2004, we went public in 2006. According to the Silicon Valley standards, any company to strike a billion dollars in less than 10 years is considered highly successful. And today, we are proud to be one of them, Dixon said.
