Rice basmati price up on increased demand

Prices of rice basmati moved upby Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today due to rise in demand from retailers supported by marriage season.

Marketmen said pick up in demand from retailers supportedby the marriage season against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly led to rise in wholesale rice basmati prices.

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 were up by Rs 100 each to Rs 7600-7700 and Rs 6900-7700 per quintal, respectively.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,050-2,250, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,590-1,585, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,600-1,605, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 210, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 210, Roller flour mill 850-870 (50 kg), Maida 900-950 (50 kg) and Sooji 950-980 (50kg).

Rice Pusa-(112 1) new 6,900-7,700, Permal raw 2,050-2,150, Permal wand 2,325-2,375, Sela 2,550-2,600 and Rice IR-8 1,700-1,750, Bajra 1,330-1,335, Jowar yellow 1,425-1,450, white 2,250-2,450, Maize 1,460-1,490, Barley 1,400-1,410, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
