If your mobile phone battery gets discharged very quickly, you can depend on this portable mobile charger. The Recharge+ is an ultra slim device, simple to use, and adds hours to a mobile phone and portable media players battery life. Its maker, PM Powerpack Solutions, claims that the charger takes approximately four hours to charge and delivers idle discharging for up to 180 days. It retails for R1,499 and is available in two colours, Black and White.

In my test-run, the portable charger came across as a convenient way to charge up a dying mobile phone without the need for an electrical outlet.

The Recharge+ comes in a compact form factor, measuring 23 x 77 x 33 mm and weighs around 79.7g. It is equipped with a power button, with an LED light and a micro USB input port and has an inbuilt short circuit which protects it from getting damaged by overcharging.

The Recharge+ has a charging jack, which you can attach to an adapter to juice up the charger. Yes, you have to charge the charger before you begin using it. I charged it up for a few hours and then tested it with my BlackBerry Bold 4 that was out of battery power. The charger went to work almost immediately, and I managed to power up the phone and continue making calls. An hour later and the Bold was sufficiently charged again.

Frankly, I was really impressed with such a speedy recovery, and the Recharge+ certainly delivered on its promise. This device is compatible with mobile phones from Apple, Samsung, Nokia, BlackBerry, Sony Ericsson and HTC. As a word of caution, always keep your portable charger in a dry and clean place. Also, never operate it in extremely high temperatures.
