'Mardaani' box collections have been Rs 8.21 crore in two days with with Rs 3.46 crore from the opening day and Rs 4.75 crore on Saturday. The film's business has in stark contrast to last week's release 'Singham Returns', featuring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor, which worked wonders with its box office collections.
That means competition for 'Singham Returns' has not cropped up, unlike what Salman Khan's 'Kick' faced (where Ajay Devgn's film popped-up and caused Sallu bhai's collections to dip), even though the movie has shown a dip in business in its second week.
Rani was last seen inBombay Talkiesin 2013, which made Rs 8.49 crore in lifetime business. The opening day and weekend box office collections of the film had been a mere Rs 1.3 crore and Rs 5.05 crore respectively.
A hard hitting and realistic take on child trafficking and prostitution, ' Mardaani' features Rani Mukerji in an action packed avatar.
The movie will not see the light of the day in Pakistan. The film board and distribution of Pakistan has denied the request of releasing the Rani Mukerji starrer in the country.
According to the Pakistani distributor Rehmat K Fazli, there was too much adult content in the film and hence, there were too many deletions being requested which is why it was rejected for public exhibition. It is being said that there were about seven cuts and certain scenes were asked to be blurred keeping in mind the stringent rules of the Pakistani Board.
Prior to this, yet another Yash Raj film that faced this objection wasEk Tha Tigersince the Board believed that the film had a few anti-Pakistan elements.
