EIH brass to get 2% of profits as commission

EIH, which runs Oberoi Group of hotels, on Tuesday said in a filing on the BSE that PRS Oberoi, now the executive chairman, and SS Mukherji, now vice-chairman and chief executive officer, of the company would get commission at 2% of the net profits of the company in a financial year. Moreover, it informed the bourses that Mukherjees remuneration has been revised to R15 lakh per month with effect from February 2013.

Amazon, Redington tie up for Kindle sale

Amazon Seller Sevices, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amazon.com, has appointed Chennai-based Redington India as a national distributor for its Kindle devices. This distribution tie up will give Redington en entry into e-reader segment. Amazon.com is a Fortune 500 company based in Seattle and is engaged in the e-commerce business and offers wide range of products online in categories such as books, movies and games, said a Redington filing to stock exchanges.

Status quo on Calcutta HCs order on Dunlop

The Supreme Court has granted a status quo till March 13 on Calcutta High Courts order of winding up Dunlop India. The apex court has directed Dunlop to file an appeal in the name of the company. Contributories of Dunlop filed a petition at Supreme Court following the Calcutta High Courts winding up order.

Calcutta HC declines stay on Reckitt ad

Theres new twist to the ongoing legal battle between Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and Reckitt Benckiser India (RBIL). After hearing both HUL and RBIL grievances, the Calcutta High Court has not granted any stay order on RBILs television commercial that says Dettol Healthy Kitchen has better germ killing capability than HULs Vim Liquid. As an interim measure with the consent of HUL and RBIL, the court recorded that RBIL would remove from its television commercial only the portion showing the visual of quantum of germs killed by use of the two competing products.

Microsoft AppFest churns 3,000 apps

IT giant Microsoft invited young application developers on Tuesday at the Microsoft Student AppFest, which saw over 10,000 students across India participating. AppFest is the coding event by Microsoft that enables students from colleges to develop their own application ideas alongside professional developers using the latest technologies of the software company. The day-long event kick-started across 45 cities in 18 states. The workshops were run by a total of 150 Microsoft student partners who were on-call to give students a first-hand app development experience. An average of 250 estimate students from each college participated. An estimated total number of 3,000 full apps were imagined and created during the one-day code-a-thon.
