Bajaj Auto has recorded its highest ever sales in December 2012. The country's second-largest two wheeler maker reported a 13% jump in its motorcycle sales at 2,98,350 units in December 2012. The company sold 2,63,699 bikes in the same period in 2011. It sold 45,596 commercial vehicles in the same month as against 41,991 vehicles in the previous year, an increase of 9%. The company also sold 343,946 vehicles in 2012 as against 305,690 vehicles the previous year, up by 13%. The companys Q3 sales at 1.42 lakh vehicles were the highest ever for any quarter, Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto said.
Ashok Leyland December sales slide by 19%
Ashok Leyland reported a 19% decline in its December 2012 sales to 7,299 units as compared to 9,048 units sold in same month in 2011. This, despite a 88% growth in its LCV Dost sales of 2,069 units (1,099 units in December 2011). The M&HCV sales during the month fell to 5,230 units (7,949 units). However, for the nine months period ending December 2012, all sales grew 21% to 79,990 units as compared to 66,321 units sold in the same period last financial year.
TVS Motor sales dip marginally in December
TVS Motor reported a fall in its December 2012 sales to 156,221 units as against 170,428 units in the same period last year. The company registered total two-wheeler sales of 151,735 units in December 2012 as against 167,905 units in 2011. Domestic sales stood at 134,566 units as against 146,747 units in 2011. Motorcycle sales grew 6% with sales of 60,210 units in December 2012.
HMSI December sales up 14%
Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India reported 13.59% growth in its total sales for December 2012 at 2,17,612 units. The company's total sales stood at 1,91,584 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.
Renault wraps 2012 on a high, hits new mark
Auto major Renault India achieved sales crossing the 35,000-mark to touch 35,052 units for the calendar year 2012, including December sales of 5,924 units. The company clocked 1,401 units in 2011(between June and December 2011) and had offered only two models as against five now. Commenting on the CY 2012 sales, Marc Nassif, MD, Renault India, said, "It is very satisfying for all of us at Renault to close the year with sales of over 35,000 units and delivering what we promised in the beginning of the year."
Yamaha picks Asano as India deputy MD
Japanese two-wheeler giant Yamaha has appointed Masaki Asano, MD of its Vietnamese operations, as the deputy MD of India Yamaha Motor. India Yamaha Motor formally announced Asano's appointment as the deputy MD of the company," the Indian subsidiary said in a statement.
Bharti Airtel launches e-Education services
Bharti Airtel on Wednesday launched eEducation services that will enable its customers to access courses for English learning, competitive exam preparation and career counselling on their mobile phones. "In many parts of the country, access to formal education is still restricted. Mobile platform has the potential to bridge this restriction using technology," Bharti Airtel president (consumer business) K Srinivas said in a statement.
Moolchand Healthcare acquires Agra hospital
Delhi-based Moolchand Healthcare has acquired a hospital in Agra which it plans to expand to a 300-bed facility with a total investment of R75 crore. This acquisition is in line with Moolchand Healthcare's R500-crore expansion plan to expand its footprint to cover Western Uttar Pradesh.
ITD Cementation bags R546-cr DMRC order
ITD Cementation India said its JV Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited, Thailand, has received an order of R546 crore from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. This project includes construction of a 9,035-m-long elevated metro track along with 8 elevated stations. The project is scheduled for completion in 30 months.
Emco bags R458-cr order from Power Grid Corp
Emco has got a R458-crore order from Power Grid Corporation for execution of a transmission line from Champa to Kurukshetra. "This (the order) is part of the prestigious 800 KV HVDC overhead transmission line network to be laid from Champa, Chhattisgarh to Kurukshetra, Haryana," Emco said in a BSE filing.
