Videocon Industries net up 32.50% at R20.18 cr
Videocon Industries on Friday reported an increase of 32.50% in its standalone net profit at R20.18 crore for the quarter ended September. The company had posted a standalone net profit of R15.23 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, Videocon Industries said in a filing with the BSE. The companys net standalone sales also increased to R3,176.20 crore in the July-September 2013 quarter, compared with R3,015.52 crore in the same period a year ago.
Zylog Systems Q2 net loss at R91.63 crore
IT firm Zylog Systems has reported a consolidated net loss at R91.63 crore for the second quarter ended September. The company had reported net profit at R21.48 crore registered in the corresponding period of previous year. For the six month period ended September, the net loss of the company stood at R124.15 crore, against R77.41 crore registered during the same period of previous year. For the year ended March 2013 the net profit stood at R115.32 crore.
M&M gets government order for 630 vehicles
Mahindra & Mahindra on Friday said it has received an order from the Indian government for a fleet of 630 vehicles, which it intends to gift to its Nepalese counterpart. These (vehicles) would be purchased by the government of India for gifting to the government of Nepal as a support for the upcoming Constitutional Assembly elections and will be delivered to the Election Commission in Nepal and the Home Ministry, M&M said. These vehicles would be utilised by the Nepalese security forces, Nepal police, armed police force and also as part of the convoy during the elections, which are scheduled to be held in the country on November 19, it added.
Swedish firms expanding presence in India: Survey
Notwithstanding the current economic slowdown, Swedish companies appetite to invest in India is increasing at an impressive rate, says a survey. The Business Climate survey, conducted by Swedish Chamber of Commerce in India (SCCI), found that eight out 10 Swedish firms are looking to expand their operations in India. The positive outlook and optimism of Swedish companies towards the business potential of the Indian market is truly very encouraging, Harald Sandberg, Ambassador of Sweden to India said.
Lenovo launches Yoga tablets priced at R22,999
Aiming at a higher market share, leading personal computer maker Lenovo on Friday announced the launch of its new Yoga Tablet priced between R22,999 to R28,999. Yoga Tablet has been ergonomically designed to aid a longer and comfortable Tablet viewing experience. It is priced at R22,999 and R28,999, for the 20.3 cm and 25.4 cm models, respectively, the company officials said. .....according to IDC report- in the tablet space we assumed 3% market share in the last quarter and we have moved to 14.3%, a very strong number two position just in a span of three months, Lenovo India director (consumer business) Shailendra Katyal said.
Lyca Mobile offers intl roaming for biz travellers
Lyca Telecom, a subsidiary of UK-based Lyca Mobile, today introduced its post-paid international roaming SIM card priced at R250 targeting the corporate customers. The company, which was offering services to UK customers, expanded its horizon and currently offers the international roaming post-paid SIM cards to Indian customers. Lyca Mobile CEO, Milind Kangle said the SIM would reduce roaming expenses anywhere between 70% and 90% for an Indian customer.
