Arvind Kejriwal was on Tuesday slapped by a man during a roadshow in Sultanpuri area of North West Delhi in the second such attack in four days. The AAP leader immediately held the BJP responsible for it. The man, identified as Lali, an autorickshaw driver, first garlanded Kejriwal and then slapped him, following which he was thrashed by AAP supporters. AAP leader Manish Sisodia tweeted that Kejriwal was injured in his eye. Kejriwal's spectacles fell on the ground during the attack. The 38-year-old attacker, a resident of Aman Vihar in Outer Delhi, has accused Kejriwal of not fulfilling promises made to auto-drivers. He was later detained by the police.
Voting in six constituencies in North-East today under Phase II
Polling will take place on Wednesday in six constituencies spread across four north-eastern states in round two of the nine-phase Lok Sabha election. On Tuesday, elections to the sole Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram were postponed to April 11 following a state-wide bandh called against exercise of franchise by Bru voters lodged in Tripura camps through postal ballots. Voting will be held in one seat each in Nagaland and Manipur and two seats each in Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. In Arunachal Pradesh, simultaneous elections will be held for 49 of the 60 assembly seats. The campaigning in these constituencies has already ended.
Google launches Know Your Candidate tool
Google has launched a new tool that will allow citizens to access relevant information about their candidates contesting from their constituencies for the elections, the company said in a release on Tuesday. The Know Your Candidates' tool, which can be accessed at google.co.in/elections, integrates publicly available information sourced from Indian organizations such as the Association for Democratic Reforms and PRS Legislative Research and Liberty Institute India. Mapped onto Google Maps interface, citizens will be able to find the information by using pin codes of their area or by zooming on their locality on the map, the release said, adding, The tool will be updated regularly to provide information about all candidates as they get finalized and will be made available at least a week before the voting day in each constituency.
