Pistachio prices up on fresh buying

Pistachio prices rose by Rs 10 per kg in the national capital today largely on increased buying by retailers and stockists to meet rising demand amid paucity of stocks.

Fall in supplies from overseas markets also supported therise in the prices.

Pistachio hairati and peshwari rose by Rs 10 each to conclude at Rs 760-860 and Rs 960-1,010 per kg, respectively.

Market analysts said increased buying by retailers and stockists, amid fall in supplies from overseas markets, mainly pushed up pistachio prices on the dry fruit market here.

The following are today's quotations (per 40 kg): Almond (California) Rs 14,400 Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 7,200-7,700; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 3,200-3,500; Abjosh Afghani Rs 8,000-20,000.

Almond Kernel (California-new) Rs 490-530 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 350-450 per kg.
