Katragadda, 44, had joined Google in 2002 when it acquired his San Francisco-based start-up Sphereo. He later moved to Bangalore to set up Googles India operations.
It was a personal decision. Tuesday was the last day at office, Katragadda said, adding that his friends Rajan Anandan (Google India MD) and Sandeep Menon (Google Indias marketing director) had kind words for him and the office organised a send off.
Sometimes you have to shake things a bit. There are some things you cannot do inside a large corporation, said Katragadda, who has a Phd in robotics from Carnegie Mellon University. Google has its constraints and advantages. And there are many ways in which to make technology work for a billion Indians. Sometimes it is good to work outside large corporations.
