The groups Mahindra Racing, the first Indian team to participate in the FIM MotoGP, decided to take the step following its success as a bike maker with an increase in the number of rivals using its bikes. The Moto3 races are part of the high-profile MotoGP series.
Apart from its own team, Mahindra is supplying 250cc bikes to San Carlo Team Italia, Team CIP and Ambrogio Racing. Next season, a new team Aspar owned by former world champion Jorge Martinez, will become the latest to use the companys racing bikes.
Three years back we started to show how good our product is with our own team. Now we have three other teams using our bikes, which shows the progress we have made. So from the 2015 season, we will not field our own team, Mahindra Racing chairman SP Shukla told PTI. Shukla further said: We will make and supply our bikes to other teams and provide them support.
He said the move was nothing to do with financial considerations of running a racing team and it would be an amicable parting of ways with riders Miguel Oliveira and Arthur Sissis.
