With the PMs address set for telecast on DD National, sources said Hoodas address will only be through Edusat as he does not have any such slot on the television channel. The state government is also looking to provide live internet steaming of the speech to schools that lack Edusat facilities.
As a result, the Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad, in a communique, has directed block-level elementary education officers to ensure that Edusat systems in schools remain in order on Teachers Day (September 5). The order is applicable to all privately managed, CBSE and ICSE schools.
All schools which have the Edusat apparatus will relay the live feed of the addresses through their equipment. In case, the Edusat is not available then it may be arranged through specially procured TV sets with the help of the members of local bodies, the directive reads before going on to direct schools to arrange for generators to cover for power failures. Furthermore, in a departure from the local-level fun-filled celebrations that are associated with Teachers Day, the Haryana education department, for the first time, has chalked out an itinerary for the day. As per the schedule, the day will begin with the CMs address at 11.30 am to be followed by a number of competitions that are to be held before the day concludes with the PMs address between 3 and 4.45 pm.
Government schools have also been directed to ensure a special menu under the mid day meal scheme. The special feast should included kheer, chhole, bhature or any delicious item of the choice of students, the education department directive reads.
The communique has, however, not gone down well with teachers and school staff, particularly those in private ones, who enjoy numerous benefits on the day. Hotels and resorts come up with special packages for teachers and majority of the schools usually take their staff on a day-long trip.
The government, on the other hand, is going ahead with its preparations. Vivek Atray, Director, Higher Education, told The Indian Express that the state was set for the PMs address. We have discussed the entire programme. Nearly 70 per cent of the Edusat equipment is working in schools and for the remaining, we are arranging TV sets. And since for DTH you dont need a cable connection, the Doordarshan live feed will be available for the schools. Prior to the PM, the CMwill also address the students, Atray added.
