It gives an opportunity to engineering/science students, software developers, teachers and research scholars to look behind the scenes of image and video processing, from basic and classical tools to the most modern and advanced algorithms.
This course provides comprehensive coverage of image and video communication tools and techniques in use today. Unlike conventional courses, it lays emphasis on communication rather than processing. The course addresses topics such as source data compression and coding, error resiliency and channel coding, networked delivery of image and video and design of codecs in VLSI architecture/software, among others.

The 4-month course starts on February 8, 2014 and ends on May 17, 2014. Though a significant part of the course will be conducted online via the WizIQ Virtual Classroom, it also has in-campus sessions at IIT Kharagpur campus.
The first and last phase will comprise regular classes and valedictory at the IIT Kharagpur Campus. The sessions will also be available online on WizIQ for those who can't attend on site training. The second phase will comprise online classes on WizIQ, which participants will be able to attend from wherever they want to.
The course comprises 50 hours of live interactive classes, case studies and assignments, that will be conducted via the WizIQ Virtual Classroom.
The enrollment fee for the course is Rs. 19,999. WizIQ provides students the option to pay in two installments of Rs. 10,000 each. The first installment is to be paid before February 3, 2014, while the second installment is to be paid before March 7, 2014.
A certificate of participation will be awarded by the Continuing Education Centre, IIT, Kharagpur to candidates who successfully complete the course.
