IIM-C sees 150 job offers from 60 cos in first 5 days

The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) saw more than 150 job offers by about 60 firms in the first five days of the final placement that started on February 7.

IIM-C on Tuesday said this years final placement season till now has been slightly better compared to last year in terms of the total number of job offers bagged by the students. The batch of 2012-14 comprises a total of 462 students.

During the final placement till now students have got above 150 offers. And about 60 firms have participated in the placement process at our Joka campus, IIM-C placements chairperson Krishanu Rakshit told FE. He, however, declined to divulge details of the recruiters and specific placement trends for this year as the process is on.

The B-school is expected to finish the process by February 16.

Last year, the number of students eligible for final placements was 444. The total number of firms that visited the campus for placements was a record 218. That number included 114 first-time recruiters.

By the end of the slot-based process, 385 candidates had successfully secured offers, 10 opted out of the placement process and 4 availed deferred placement option to start their entrepreneurial ventures. Last time, finance and sales & marketing made the maximum percentage of offers, closely followed by consulting. Despite the slowdown in finance sector, financial majors like JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Citibank, Royal Bank of Scotland and HSBC had flocked to the campus to recruit students in large numbers during the process.
