HCL TechHCL and Computer Sciences Corporation have joined hands to offer application modernisation services.
IT services such as HCL Technologies and Nasdaq-listed Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) on Wednesday joined hands to offer application modernisation services like creating new formats for existing apps.

The alliance has got its first client in US-based telecom major AT&T to convert the firm's Unix applications into Linux. Besides, the two firms are also planning to modernise the core banking solutions using CSC's BizCloud platform.

We will share the revenues, costs and people and offer these services jointly. There is no merger and our sales teams will go to market together for this offering, said Mike Lawrie, CSCs president and chief executive officer, denying any conflict of interest between the two companies that are rivals in the IT space. Incidentally, the two firms have been discussing the contours of this partnership for the last four months that led to a general speculation about HCL Technologies being acquired by a global IT giant.

The joint application modernisation offering will be enhanced with vertical specific initiatives starting with banking & financial services through the creation of a banking center of excellence in Dallas after which the alliance plans to rope in clients in the manufacturing, distribution and healthcare space.

Close to 14 insurance companies in India use our software and we would like to tap into this market, Lawrie added.
