N. Srinivasan's India Cements, the owners of Chennai Super Kings, failed to ensure that the teams official Gurunath Meiyappan adhered to the rules and regulations of the Indian Premier League, according to a Supreme Court appointed Justice Mudgal IPL Probe Committee.

Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI President N. Srinivasan, was indicted for betting by the panel. The committee said that Meiyappan brought disrepute to the game and the stand taken by the franchisee with regard to his role in Chennai Super Kings appears to be contradicting the factual position of the matter.

The stand taken by the franchisee that Gurunath Meiyappan was not related in any way with the franchisee appears to be contradicting the factual position, the committees report concluded.

The role of Gurunath Meiyappan in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the team official stands proved and the allegations of betting and passing of information against Meiyappan stand proved, said the report.

The committee is of the view that the material on record clearly indicates that Gurunath Meiyappan was the face of CSK and the team official of CSK, the report said, while rejecting N. Srinivasans contention that he was merely a cricket enthusiast.

The report also observed the said illegal acts further stand accentuated in light of Meiyappans position in CSK.

The committee also said the issue whether Gurunath Meiyappan was involved in match fixing and spot-fixing has not been probed thoroughly by the ICCs anti-corruption and security unit and BCCIs anti-corruption unit or the crime branch of Chennai Police even though some information was available for such an investigation to be conducted.

The Mumbai Police has provided some information on the alleged involvement of Gurunath Meiyappan in match fixing, however, a conclusive inference cannot be drawn from their investigation, it said.

With regard to the allegations of passing insider information by Gurunath Meiyappan, the Mumbai Police highlighted incidents before the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
