Jewel chief

NBCC chairman Anoop Kumar Mittal seems to be working in a mission mode to raise his companys profile. After taking over as NBCC chief in April 2013, the first target that Mittal outlined to the employees was to achieve the Navratna status. That target has been achieved recently, with the government granting the coveted tag to the PSU. Mittal has now set his sights on the Maharatna tag and called upon his staff to help raise the company's turnover by 25-30% a year. Mittal has four more years to go in his current tenure. We hope he succeeds again.

Task of refining

There are high expectations from Sanjiv Singh, who has taken over as Indian Oils director-refineries. In his 34-year career at the oil PSU, Singh has taken up several challenging assignments, which include setting up the state-of-the-art refinery at Panipat. Prior to taking up this assignment, he was in charge of the PSU's upcoming R30,000-crore refinery at Paradip. But the moot question is, will he be able to make IOC's refining business internationally competitive, both cost and quality wise
