GoAir CEO Girgio De Roni said the carrier will deploy 13% of its capacity to international operations within five years from the start, while the rest would remain in domestic service.
Indias aviation market is catering to 11.7 crore domestic passengers and 4.30 lakh international passengers a year. The civil aviation ministry has projected this to go up to 33.7 crore and 8.4 crore respectively by 2020.
The Indian market will remain to be the key growth driver for the aviation sector and so GoAir will continue to keep its focus on domestic operations, though international operations would add value to its business, Roni said, adding the airline would add another aircraft to its fleet by July. After that, it will apply for an international licence.
