Fortis surgeon gets National Award

DrDr Pankaj Garg is awarded national award at the International conference of Association of Surgeons of India.
Dr Pankaj Garg, an MS from AIIMS and currently a senior colorectal and laparoscopic surgeon at Fortis Hospital, Mohali near here has been awarded the prestigious national award at the International conference of Association of Surgeons of India (ASI).

More than 7000 surgeons from India and across the globe attended this conference held in Ahmedabad from December 27-29, Dr. Garg told here today. The Betadine Surgeons Award was bestowed on Dr Garg for his outstanding contribution in the field of Coloproctology and Laparoscopic surgery. He was bestowed with a Certificate of Merit, a Golden Plaque and a cash award of Rs 25,000 in the annual convocation of the association.

Dr Garg has more than 30 international publications in the top American and European journals in the last 5 years to his credit. Apart from this, he has been invited to give lectures and presentations in American conferences more than 40 times in the last five years. He has developed a new technique Gargs PERFACT Procedure- to treat recurrent complex Anal Fistulas. Gargs operation is a major advancement as it involves minimum cuts, pain is very less after this operation and the patient resumes normal activities within 48 hours of operation.

For his contribution to the International journals, Dr Garg was awarded SAGES International Young Investigator award in 2009 by the largest society of laparoscopic surgeons in the world, based at Los Angeles, USA. Dr Garg is the first and till date the only Indian to get this award
