While Hyundai's Elite i20?s front gets the i30?s hexagonal grille, we believe the headlamps will be different.
On Friday, Hyundai India released the first official sketches of the all-new Elite i20. In an interview with The Financial Express, published May 31, Hyundai India senior vice-president Rakesh Srivastava had indeed said that there is room for a very premium hatchback above the i20 (http://goo.gl/I4iXgw). Here is how this new car, to be launched on August 11, will look like. While the front gets the now-trademark Hyundai hexagonal grille and the thin horizontal strip connecting the headlamps, the rear has a distinctive design in the form of slim tail-lamps. (The side profile, we believe, should resemble the Grand i10.) Although Hyundai says the Elite i20 is an altogether different model, a quick photo comparison shows that it is not really too different from the i30.
In the same interview, Srivastava had also said that this new hatchback will definitely be priced under R10 lakh and, considering it will be very high on equipment, the Elite i20 has the potential to find buyers who are looking for a premium small car. Pre-bookings for the car have already started.
