Poetry on the track

Railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal was at his poetic best, peppering his railway budget speech with Christine Weatherlys poem The Song of the Engine:

When you travel on the railway, And the line goes up a hill,

Just listen to the engine, As it pulls you with a will.

Though it goes very slowly, It sings this little song,

I think I can, I think I can, And so it goes along.

Bansal rounded up his speech citing Weatherly once again:

But later on the Journey

the engines singing still.

If you listen very quietly,

You will hear this little song,

I thought I could I could!

And so it speeds along.

I know best!

RJD chief and former railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was quite vocal in opposing the railway budget presented yesterday. The rail budget contains nothing for anyone and they should have asked me before taking measures for improving the financial health of the large organisation, he railed.
