Commonly known as 'The liquid rainbow', Cao Cristales is a beautiful Columbian river located in Sierra de La Macarena. The water appears in many colours, including yellow, green, blue, black, and especially red caused by the Macarenia clavigera, a fresh water plant, along with a variety of distinct flora present at the bottom of the river. Over 450 species of birds,12 primates and petroglyphs of the ancient cultures that inhabited the area, are part of the 629,280 acre park.
