The flats including a large number of single-bedroom units will be located in areas like Rohini, Dwarka and Narela. The scheme is likely to be announced by the DDA on Friday.
For the first time, a new condition has been introduced under which registration of the flats will take place after five years. The DDA had also proposed reserving 80 per cent flats for residents of Delhi, which was rejected. There is no way of authenticating who qualifies as a resident of Delhi, an official said.
Sale of brochures will begin by the end of this month and the draw for allotment of flats will take place after a month or more. The flats will be priced from Rs 14-15 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
The scheme will also include 850 vacant flats, part of earlier schemes but lying unoccupied. Some officials had issues over this, saying basic repair was needed before putting them up for sale again, a source said.
Apart from this, the scheme will include another 700 EWS flats, constructed by a private developer. About 10 lakh brochures will be printed. The flats use green technology and a corpus fund of Rs 300 crore for maintenance of the flats for the next 30 years will be created.
The much-awaited scheme comes four years after the DDA offered over 16,000 flats in its 2010 scheme.
Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu has also emphasised the need for the DDA to create more housing units.
The DDA has introduced 43 housing schemes so far, providing 3.5 lakh houses in Delhi.
However, some of the flats in Vasant Kunj, part of the DDA housing scheme 2010, still remain under construction. In fact, the Lt-Governors office has stepped in to monitor the project.
The authority missed deadlines for handing over possession of flats in Dwarkas Sector-18 and in Mukherjee Nagar also, which are also part of the 2010 scheme.
