A lovestruck IT programmer in China used up all his savings worth USD 32,990 to fold paper roses as a unique proposal gift for his girlfriend.

The man identified as Chen, who works in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province of China, decided to use all of his savings to fold roses for a marriage proposal.

Chen folded 999 paper roses out of 200,000 yuan (USD 32,990), 'ecns.cn' quoted a Zhejiang-based news website as reporting.

Folding a rose required two 100-yuan notes and Chen had been folding every night since February 8.

His friends and colleagues helped him in order to finish before his girlfriend's birthday yesterday.

Chen also posted his plan online and won support from netizens.

Chen then proposed his girlfriend for marriage last night and she accepted.
