XLRI to organise the third finance symposium, GNOSIS, in Mumbai

XLRI will organise GNOSIS 2012the annual finance symposium that brings together industry-academia on the same platform on November 16 at Hotel Taj President in Mumbai. A day before, on November 15 at the ITC Grand Central in Mumbai, XLRI will also host INSIGHT 2012the annual consulting conference.

The Department of Management Studies, Dehradun Institute of Technology, recently organised a debate on FDI in multi-brand retail for its MBA students, where the winners were Vivek Kumar (for the motion) and Saima Zaidi (against the motion), while the runners up were Niharika Sharma (for) and Harmandeep Singh (against).

RIT, Maharashtra, bags Best Institute & Best Teacher awards

The Engineering Education Foundation, Pune, along with the Pune Consortium of Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics, came out with Best Institute, Best Principal & Best Teacher awards, in which engineering colleges across Maharashtra took part. Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages and University of Mumbai will set up a Community College to impart job skills and develop employability amongst youth. The initiative will offer a two-year associate degree course that, with a mix of on-the-job training and academic knowledge, aims to equip students with skills to enhance their employability and contribute in the countrys socio-economic progress.

Faculty of Management Studies, DU, hosts its annual conclave

Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, hosted its annual conclave recently. This years theme was Resurgence of India Growth Story. The conclave brought together eminent personalities from both government and private sector and was attended by faculty and students of FMS. The conclave was divided into two distinct panels. The first panel featured eminent bureaucrats as speakers while the second consisted of distinguished personalities of the corporate world. The conclave came to an end with an interactive question-answer round between the panellists and the students of FMS Delhi.

Tagore Engineering College, Chennai, organises a summit

The management studies and ED cell of Tagore Engineering College, Chennai, recently organised a one-day national level entrepreneurship summit on youth & entrepreneurship and business plan contest. As many as 250 students and 25 teams participated, which was presided over by P Kasinatha Pandian, principal, Tagore Engineering College. P Priyadarsini, head of department, MBA, welcomed the gathering. On the occasion, the director of MSME-Development Institute, Mr Sivagnanam, delivered the inaugural address and talked about the importance of entrepreneurship.
