CA Technologies ramps up R&D activity in India, opens tech center in Bangalore

After opening up a technology center in Hyderabad in 2010, today CA Technologies announced the opening of its second technology center in Bangalore.

This new tech hub is spread over 50,000 sq. ft floor space area and has a capacity to house over 400 staff. With this center, company is planning to hire talent in the areas of new technologies like mobility, analytics and others.

The Bangalore center will focus on building emerging technologies that includes Mobility, Digital Payments, Big data, Data science/advanced analytics, DevOps and Security. Ram Varadarajan, CA Technologies' SVP & GM - New Business Innovation, today officially opened the center.

There's a significant shift happening in the market and enterprises are having expectations and demanding certain kind of applications and technology that cannot be met by technology of yesterday, Varadarajan told reporters in Bangalore.

According to Varadarajan, its important for the company to keep a pace with the technology shift by doing innovation in emerging technologies. There is competition but we are not facing it from the traditional players but its from new players or startups, he said.

Though the NASDAQ listed firm had presence in Bangalore city in from of sales, engineering and acquisition teams, company has brought all of them under one roof at this new center. Today, there are over 350 staffs including engineers and developers here, while the Hyderabad center has around 2500 employees.

In terms of work done at the Bangalore center, Our focus is on mobility, cloud and analytics solutions; and creating new products as well as working together with other CA team to bring solutions as required by enterprises and businesses, said Raj (Rajendra) Gopalkrishna, CA Technologies' Distinguished Engineer & SVP.

He is the only Distinguished Engineer for CA Technologies outside the North America region and is heading the Bangalore center.

Beside this new Bangalore center, recently CA has also opened a new tech hub om in Santa Clara, US. Varadarajan is heading the Santa Clara center and has been with the company since 2010 through an acquisition of Arcot Systems, which Varadarajan had co-founded.

According to Sunil Manglore, CA's Managing Director India, there are opportunities and demands of new technologies in the area of data analytics including online transaction data, supply chain, mobility particularly for telcos, banks and others.

In last 12 months CA Technologies has hired 1000 people globally and company spents $600 million in R&D annually.
