This incident was triggered due to a gate-pass issue for early exit without valid explanation and resulted in verbal and physical abuse of an officer by workman (also a union office-bearer) on the shop floor, Bosch said in a statement. The company does not compromise with the safety and security of its employees and would not entertain any form of verbal or physical violence within its premises. After due deliberation, a disciplinary action in form of chargesheet in line with certified standing orders has been issued against the identified workmen, it said.
The company said the union, Mico Employees Association, responded to this by suspending work at 3 pm, without the mandatory seven-day notice required as per labour laws. There were no discussions for resolution prior to their move, it said. The management has made an appeal to the workmen and the union to see reason and resolve normalcy at the earliest. said the statement.
