The Opposition BJP today raked up the issue of inauguration of facilities at a government hospital here by former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar holding that it 'demeaned' the office of Chief Minister.

In a letter to Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said that that it 'demoralised democratic values' and was insulting for him and the people and he should stop their recurrence.

Modi referred to the absence of the name or photograph of Manjhi in the government advertisements published in newspapers about the event and which carried Kumar's photograph and name.

"Inauguration of any government project by a former chief minister is not a healthy tradition," he said.

He said if this happened then the days were not far off when former chief minister Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi would do so, which would be an unhealthy tradition.

"If adding facilities in the hospital was a dream of Kumar, former health ministers from BJP like Chandramohan Rai, Nand Kishore Yadav and Ashwani Choubey were part of the dream ... why were these leaders left out of the function" he questioned.

Kumar had inaugurated the facilities at Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, Rajwanshinagar last Wednesday.
