Hook up your Blu-ray player, gaming system or satellite cable to enjoy the amazing picture this high definition television provides.

Purchasing a television is a pretty big deal. With so many variables, factors, and technologies behind these increasingly powerful visual devices, figuring out which one is right for you can be quite a task, isnt it I am not an expert to offer you any advice on buying TVs; I still make do with a Sony Trinitron, purchased nearly a decade ago and it seems to be doing a fairly decent job. But whenever I visit an electronics store and get surrounded amidst a plethora visual devices LCD, LED and PlasmaI get a feeling that the telly in my living room is rather small and somewhat obsolete. Plain speak, its time to upgrade to something bigger and more advanced.

While the research for my own purchase is ongoing, Taiwanese display technology major AOC, widely known for its range of LCD monitors, LCD TVs and all-in-one PCs, sent us their new full high definition TV for a product review. And believe me, evaluating the LE42K09D device was a good learning experience to me at a personal level. The TV has been with me for the past couple of weeks and I am quite pleased with it so far. This ergonomically designed TV is a super slim television on a thin mount. It comes with 120 Hz Motion Boost and 10 Bit panel with 16.7 million colours that brings to life intricate video scenes and gives unmatched clarity to fast sporting sequences.

The test unit came to us neatly packed in a rather large cardboard box with all the specifications detailed on its sides. The TV comes in a 40 mm profile and piano-black finish adding elegance to its looks. Setting up the TV was simple. To assemble the stand, you just need to install four thumb screws in the base. Then just plug everything in, and youre done. The channel setup was also quite easy. The included remote is designed to control the TV only.

The TV features a contemporary design and fits perfectly into any home environment and dcor. I connected the cables, plugged in the Tata Sky set-top box and also connected the TV to my Sony music system and its associated speakers for enhanced sound effects.

Quite frankly, I was overwhelmed by the AOC devices all-round performance. The picture is bright and colourful, and the built-in speakers are quite adequate. Moreover, the menu is really simple and practical. When switched on, the screen comes alive in mere two seconds and delivers superior performance with its LED back lighting and a full high definition 1080p display. Edge-type LED back lighting not only makes the super slim bezel possible, it also guarantees deeply saturated blacks as well as bright whites and brilliant colours.

The extra ordinary picture quality comes with reduced visual noise, enhanced colour and overall image detail even on 1080p sources such as Blu-ray disc players and high definition TV games. I played a couple of movies from my Sony Blu Ray player and the AOC innovation simply elevated my viewing experience to new thrilling heights. The television comes with 1 USB, 3 HDMI ports for easy connectivity and it has a multimedia feature, which enable users to view movies, photos and listen to music through its USB direct playback feature.

This HDTV provides the perfect audio for an ideal home entertainment and gaming experience. It comes equipped with powerful audio output on board speakers (8W + 8W output) with woofer (10W output) and Dream Surround Sound (DSS) technology which lets you hear, feel and live the rhythm of music. What is more, there is an energy-saving power function to provide 40% lower power consumption than the traditional TVs.

All things considered, it seems to be a good quality product overall.
