The Sanghs Jagran Patra (mouthpiece) in western UP Rashtradev has dedicated its latest edition in promotion of Modi while criticising both the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre and Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP.
It is for the first time that any regional mouthpiece of RSS has published articles on political issues instead of social ones. Rashtradev, a fortnightly tabloid, reportedly has circulation of over 25,000 copies in western UP and is published from Meerut.
The tabloid claimed that nation can rely upon Modi for eradication of poverty as he himself had lived in poverty. It claims that Modis mother had washed utensils in others homes while he sold tea at railway and bus stations, lived with eight-member family in one-room house and could not join defence services because he did not have even Rs 2 for purchasing the application form. The tabloid also claims that one crore poor have turned prosperous in Gujarat because of efforts and policies of Modi-led BJP government.
The tabloid presents a comparative figure detailing the prices of basic edible items under UPA regime and under Atal Bihari Vajpyee-led NDA government. The report also compares the condition of sugarcane farmers of Gujarat with those in UP. It claims use of advanced technology in Modis state has increased the quality of sugarcane and efficiency of mills there.
The tabloid terms AAP as Aadtan Asatyawadi Party and claimed Kejriwal told lies at different occasions for political gains. It says that Kejriwal had, in 2011, said that he will not form a political party, after Delhi Assembly elections said he will not form government, will not take Congress support, will not take a government bungalow, but did everything to the contrary.
