A bench headed by Justice RM Lodha directed the parties to "maintain status quo as existing today (Wednesday)" on the implementation of no-confidence motion passed against Chaudhary by the R13,750-crore milk federation that sells Amul brand of dairy products.
The order came after the ousted chairman moved the SC challenging the GCMMF board's decision to eject him.
Senior counsel CA Sundaram and counsel Anip Sachthey argued that the implementation of the resolution was conveyed to Chaudhary by managing director R Sodhi and not by the board.
Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the federation, opposed any stay, saying the resolution has already been enforced and there can not be any change in the position as of now.
It is not the first time the federation has seen conflict between the chairman and the board of the co-operative. Chaudhary and his opponent Parthi Bhatol had earlier compelled Amul founder Verghese Kurien to resign in 2006.
