In the integration process of Indian Airlines and Air India, 204 of the 226 issues have been completed while integration is in progress on 17 issues and five issues are pending in court. The civil aviation ministry gave this information in Parliament on Tuesday.

To a large extent, level-mapping and seniority merger of the two erstwhile airlines have been completed. The draft revised basic pay and allowances in respect of the different categories of employees of the merged entity have been displayed on the intranet and the same could not be implemented due to on-going court cases, a statement made in the Parliament said. Also, the civil aviation ministry said the Government has proposed to set up three new low-cost airports in Bihar at Muzaffarpur, Raxaul and Gaya. While Gaya is an operational customs airport, Raxaul will be a non-operational airport.

The development of an individual airport

depends upon many factors, such as availability of land, mandatory clearances, traffic projections, and provision of support services by the state government. The support services include access road to the airport, water and power supply, services of state police and fire staff, the statement said.

The government has also undertaken development of 35 non-metro airports in the country, keeping in view the potential for traffic, tourism and business.
