HRD min to get Rs 2.31 L cr over three years, says FM

Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday said the human resource development ministry will be allocated Rs 2.31 lakh crore over the next three years to set up infrastructure in order to implement the Right to Education Act.

The HRD minister has said Rs 2,31,000 crore will be required for implementing the Right to Education Act in the next three years to set up schools, appoint teachers and build infrastructure. I said that the money will be provided, Mukherjee said at a seminar here. His comments come against the backdrop of the Centres recent decision to embark upon a nationwide consultation process with stakeholders to overcome teething troubles in implementing the Right To Education Act.
