Costa Coffee to roast its beans in Bangalore

Costa Coffee, an Italian style coffee brand which is a part of British leisure group Whitbread, will soon start roasting its coffee beans in Bangalore for the Indian market.

The company has entered into collaboration with Bayar's Coffee in Bangalore to begin roasting coffee beans for the expanding market in India. Affirming this, Paul Robinson, country manager, Costa Coffee India, who was in Panchkula to launch new Costa outlet, told FE, At present we are importing coffee beans from our roastery in UK but we are planning to start roasting the beans in Bangalore by end of May or early June.

Costa Coffee, which owns 1,030 coffee outlets across 18 countries world over at present, is growing at a rate of five new stores a week eyeing to have 2,000 outlets globally by 2010.
